How We’re Different
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
If you want something different, you have to do something different.
Our training is different. We use methods that have proven time and again to be the most effective tools for increasing fitness capacity and losing body fat. And no, it does not involve a treadmill, elliptical or stationarybike. We use kettlebells, barbells, dumbbells, Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, running, jumping, throwing, calisthenics, jump ropes, sledge hammers, medicine balls, and sometimes really big tires.
Our programming is different. We take the above elements and combine them in as many ways as possible. This creates an infinite number of workouts. You will never be bored with exercising, because you will never do the same workout twice! More importantly, your body and results will never plateau because the stimulus provided is constantly varying.
Our belief in what it means to be fit and healthy are different. We train for life. Life is random. One day you may need to lift something really heavy, the next you may be chasing your 5 year old down the driveway before she runs out in the middle of the road after a kickball. You will become competent in all areas of fitness. Show me an elite marathoner with amazing cardio-respiratory endurance, and I will show you an emaciated human that is not strong or powerful enough to jump more than a few inches off the ground. Show me a strength athlete capable of squatting 700 pounds and I will show you a person who gets winded walking up three flights of stairs. Fitness is being able to do any and every imaginable physical task competently.
Our facility is different. At Athens Strength & Conditioning/CrossFit Athens you won’t find any machines. We don’t believe in them. Life isn’t linear and neither are it’s movements. There aren’t any mirrors either. This is on purpose. You don’t need to see yourself to exercise correctly. We will re-teach your body correct movement patterns based on how they feel. This is called kinesthetic awareness.
Our business model is different. We don’t want you to be a client for life. Our moral compass does not allow us to keep stringing you on indefinitely and squeezing every penny out of you. It’s wrong, really expensive for you and eventually we both become complacent. Is it better for the bottom line? Sure. But we like being able to sleep soundly at night.
We’re different. We have to be.
